Civil Litigation
Civil litigation can be costly, time consuming and an unwanted
diversion from a client’s core business.
John McDermott understands that litigation is a cost center for clients as well as a distraction from their core businesses. He realistically budgets this costs so his clients can make informed decisions on how to allocate their resources. John works with clients on a case-by-case basis to prepare a budget and assemble resources to best serve his clients.
Most lawsuits settle before trial but often after enormous cost. John has tried more than 100 cases before juries and many more than that in non-jury cases, arbitrations and administrative proceedings. If a case must be tried, the client should expect to be represented by experienced counsel rather than a lawyer undergoing on the job training.
Not only does John have that experience, he teaches other lawyers
how to try cases. For years John has been asked by the District of
Columbia Bar to teach a seminar on trial techniques. He has
consistently received superior reviews for these efforts.
